Local 100% things taste better this way! at Your Food Collective

We’re all busy, I get it, I’m busy too, and some nights food just needs to appear!

Making food appear at Your Food Collective

There’s not time to cook an elaborate meal or stroll around the farmers market on the weekend. It almost needs to be automatic.

But…

Is that what eating’s about?

or is that what it’s become?

Is that why more than 61% of Australians are suffering from obesity and typically depressed about the status quo? Is that why we’re eating tasteless tomatoes in the middle of August?

There is something seriously wrong withthe way our food finds our plate and it impacts our lives in more ways that we know.

Here are 3 things you absolutely need to ask yourself before you dish up your next meal to make sure you're loving the right sort of food…

  1. Where has your food come from?

And I don’t mean did you buy it from the supermarket. I mean where has it really come from? Where was it grown?

Where was your Food Grown at Your Food Collective

The average food item on our grocery shelves has travelled further than most families go on holidays each year! And why is this alarming…

Because… From the minute our food is harvested it starts to lose nutritional value. Thanks to long supply chains, this means most of the food on our supermarket shelves is pretty much empty of any nutrients before we even get it home.

And…. all this travels means one thing when it come to oil, fuel & energy -  our current food system guzzles them!

If everyone in Australia ate one locally grown, sustainably farmed meal a week it would save 4 million barrels of oil each year! That’s enough to fuel the entire country of Italy for two whole days!

Whenever you have the option eat locally!

  • It tastes better,
  • is better for you and
  • you’ll be saving precious fossil fuels whilst you’re at it!

At Your Food Collective we’ve made local easy!

We’ve done the hard yards for you, so you can shop directly with local producers from the comfort of your couch (no one else lets you do this, you’re food is typically passed between 4-5 sets of hands before it even reaches your store).

With Your Food Collective your food is in the ground until you order it!! That’s Absurdly Fresh!

P.S. we visit every producer we work with and know just how much love goes into bringing you delicious, nutritious food!

  1. How was your food grown?

Today so many of us have no idea how our food was grown. As consumers we’re so removed from the sun and soil that creates our food. Yes we’re talking about nature!!

This is the fuel we put into our bodies day in, day out, it's what sustains us, what grows us.

And you guessed it what you put in is what you get out!

By knowing how and where your food is grown you have control over what your putting into your body and ultimately what your body can do for you.

You can chose to eat something that’s full of artificial dyes and preservatives so it lasts longer, travels further and still smiles at you on the supermarket shelf -

 Or…

You can choose to shop with Your Food Collective and buy directly from local producers so you know your food is fresh.

No long supply chains, no artificially preserved produce, surprisingly…

just real food, pick yesterday and eaten today!

At Your Food Collective we’ve made local easy.

P.S. Beware of cheap imitations, what does local mean to you? Asia Pacific? Or your back door? At Your Food Collective most of our producers come from within 200 km of your front door. It’s deliciously close and amazingly easy!

  1. Is it in season?

It seems simple enough, but did you know that by buying and eating what’s in season you’re already ahead of the game.

If you’re eating what’s in season chances are it’s locally grown, it will also taste delicious. Food that’s in season wasn’t picked months ago and held in cold storage or artificially ripened because the conditions aren’t right. Food that’s in season is at it’s juiciest best and this is when you should be biting into it!

At Your Food Collective we’ve connected you directly to local producers so you can rest assured that everything your eating is in season. Yep that’s why it tastes so bloody good!

The best thing about eating seasonally with Your Food Collective is anticipation…

loving produce at it’s peak and then building an then waiting for it’s return.

100%, things taste better this way, absence makes the heart grow fonder.

It doesn’t have to be hard, start with one local meal a week and then grow from there. You’ll be amazed at how good it feels!

And…

At Your Food Collective we’ve made local easy! Shop from the comfort of your couch to over 50 amazing local producers, (yes supermarkets are for smucks, and suck way too much of our time!).

Change never tasted so good!

P.S. At Your Food Collective producers are paid fairly for what they do. Yep that means up to 80% of your dollar goes straight back to the farmer, that’s up to four times more than major supermarkets! I know where I’m shopping!!

Imagine Doing the Grocery Shopping and Loving Every Minute of it….Impossible?

I know where I’d rather be on a Saturday morning and it isn’t under fluorescent lights, battling crowds and filling plastic bags. It’s on the beach, or in the bush, maybe even a cheeky cuppa at the café up the road.

Lean how shopping online can take the pain out of your weekly shop, giving you more time to do the things you love.
