It’s Lauren here the CEO of YFC. I’m reaching out to say a huge THANK YOU for your patience and support over the past few months. It’s been beyond crazy!
But with your support we’ve cranked it up for local producers and truly made them feel safe in the hands of local consumers. Yes that’s you!! This is a massive achievement off the back of the drought and fires which means that farm operating costs are through the roof and crop yields are down below 50% if viable at all.
By choosing where you spend your dollar each week you’re making it count. For the first time in nearly 15 years some of our amazing local producers are looking at expanding their growing areas rather than shrinking them. This is your food system in action and food security you can rely on, its sustainable, it’s local and you’ve created it!

By the end of March we saw a 300% increase in demand for our products and I thought I share a little of what it’s been like behind the scenes at YFC to make it all happen.
- Producers we’re picking, planting and delivering produce around the clock. There we’re lots of sleepless nights and early mornings! If sleep happened at all…
- We employed and trained more than 10 new staff! Including an amazing new customer service team to deal with all the new enquiries.
- We trained up a completely new logistics team for our last mile delivery!
- We brought on more than 50 new products because you were looking for them.
- We exploded into refrigerated shipping containers in our carparks whilst we waited for new cool rooms to be built!
- We pushed through massive tech changes as we moved to offer delivery and collection times every day of the week (and may have broken a few things, sorry).
There we’re lots of late nights and super early mornings but for the most part we got it all done and are now super excited for the future. For continuing to grow a food system that works because you’ve chosen to support local produces with your food dollars.
