My story?
…it’s not too different from many of you – graduate in a field I thought I’d love. Work in the adrenalin and stress filled corporate world that I thought I’d love.
But gradually I realised that I needed something more. Something was missing.
For the record I’m a numbers person, yes in a long division kind of way, that’s my happy place!
I was in a promising corporate job, I should have been happy, but not a day went by when I didn’t stop to ask, am I passionate about this?
I enjoyed my job and I was good at it.
I’m definitely grateful for the experiences and opportunities I’ve been given. But having my gorgeous girls made me reassess, question...
What’s it All For?
It’s that cliché that Lauren talks about, there had to be something more. The ground swell of pairing back to what’s really important and doing it in a way that breaks the mould was luring me in.
I was once given the piece of advice that “if you want to change careers you don’t need the next job to go to, just making the decision you want to do something different will open your eyes to new opportunities and you’ll get that gut feeling when the right one comes along.”
On a family weekend away listening to Lauren talk passionately about her dream for Your Food Collective I just knew it was something I had to be a part of… the opportunity I’d been looking for.
I’ve spent many a holiday trawling local markets and that sensory overload you get of smells, colours, textures, tastes inspires you to want to shop and eat like that all the time, so why can’t we?
There’s something about delicious, fresh produce, it’s a perfect example of nature at it’s finest. Why don’t we celebrate it more?...
We’re lucky in Australia to have some of the best produce in the world but constantly settle for second best?
Here was an amazing opportunity for me to connect directly with the people at the heart of our food chain, making local easy for everyone.
Combining my passion to help people by supporting our amazing local producers and creating a sustainable food system, I was in!
