    Not only are we green and delicious, we aim to be the fastest brussels sprout in the East.  Right now we are trialing express Delivery for Sydney, and will soon be rolling it out further.

    Express Delivery is available for set boxes and other items showing the speedy sprout 🥦 icon.  If you only have those items in your cart you are eligible for express delivery, otherwise your first available date will be Regular Delivery.

    Local Australian Garlic Unplugged

    It’s not until you get to the shops in August looking for a clove of beautiful fresh garlic to cure that winter cold, that you wish you knew more about the Australian garlic season. Because it’s not happening in August!!

    Will garlic from China or Chile even cure my hideous head cold? Does travelling 7000km mean it loses it’s magical powers?

    I’m not sure if high speed jet travel destroys the magic of garlic but eating something from half a world away doesn’t seem right.

    Australia produces some of the best garlic in the world! In NSW garlic is harvested from October through until December depending on the season.

    So what does that mean?

    It means fresh garlic is a fantastic Christmas present, but if you want to make sure you still have local garlic to kill the winter blues you need to remember to stock up before Easter and know how to store it. 

    Garlic at Your Food Collective

     Fresh garlic will last for upto six months if you know what to do with it...

    1. Keep it in a dark cupboard in a breathable bag (paper or cloth is usually best).
    2. If any of the cloves start to sprout, don't panic, these are the ones that will see you through winter!! Pick them off and put them in the freezer.
    3. Frozen cloves will last upto a year in the freezer and are perfect for putting into winter stews and heart warming soups. 

    If you haven't managed to build up a store of garlic over the summer the last chance to buy Australian garlic will be around April so buy up big before Easter and freeze as much as you think you’ll need to see you through until November. 

    Say good bye to the winter blues one clove at a time!

    And as Jeremy from Hunter Valley Produce says, the best thing to do with garlic is just munch on it whole.
