How to create a drool-worthy chocolate platter

    by Bronni Page

Local How to create a drool-worthy chocolate platter

When it comes to presenting a crowd-pleasing dessert nothing could be easier than a chocolate platter. I mean it's just a matter of plonking a few varieties of chocolate on the table, right?

    Actually, no!

While you could simply 'plonk', the way to elicit more oooh's and ahhh's from your guests involves a teensy bit of forethought. (It's Christmas, remember, we're not gonna ask too much of you!)

We've compiled a cheeky checklist for how to do it right. And yes, several chocolates were harmed in the process...

YFC Team Tips for Creating an Amazing Chocolate Platter

    • Get on board - whether you go for wood, metal or china, choose a flat, board-style platter for easy grab n snacking. Oh and make sure whatever you choose is easy to clean.
    • Go big - select a platter that's a bit bigger than you think you need. This will ensure all those lovely chokkies have some space to be visually admired (before being demolished..)
    • Keep your cool - House your creation out of the sun and consider freezing your board before hand to avoid a chocolate meltdown.
    • Cover all textural bases -  think a little bit of crunch, a little bit of soft and a little bit of gooey.
    • Eat with your eyes - include different shapes, heights and colours for that visual WOW factor.
    • What the? Delight with something unexpected. See those olives? They're not olives at all, but our sneaky Chocolate 'Olives' de Provence.
    • Bowl 'em over - let smaller chocolates go off piste by popping them in cute little bowls off to the side of the main event.
    • Flag it - Consider guests with food intolerances and allergies by labelling goodies as needed. (Yes, we've even got vegan-pleasing treats.)
    • Finger lickin' - dot some festive napkins around to take care of sticky fingers.
    • Top up - refill your platter as needed.
    • most importantly - have fun with it!

For our epic chocolate platter we used:

Chocolate 'Olives' de Provence from local online farmers market Your Food Collective

    Organic Milk Chocolate Sprinkles

    Milk Chocolate Macadamia Nuts

    Raspberry Rocky Road

Dark Chocolate, Coffee and Hazelnut Cookies

    Chocolate 'Olives' de Provence

But don't let our assortment sway you - explore our entire chocolate range here.
