It wasn’t the row upon row of apple laden trees ripe for the picking at Hillside Harvest that drove my mortal sin. Believe me they were close!
It was the scraggly tree at the end of the row...The last of the seasons nectarines. Only a few wrinkled, shrivelled fruits scattered on random branches. More like semi dried nectarines than anything else. Fruits that had been ripened in the long, hot summer sun.

Sophie and her team will keep your lunch boxes full all year round. On there 75 acre property they grow apples, pears, cherries, nectarines, peaches, plums and berries. A family you need to spend more time with.
Their orchard is open year round and they are always happy to walk you through the rows of delicious fruit and berries.
You can even pick your own!
Fourth generation orchidist Sal is a wealth of knowledge on all things fruit and also pours a mean coffee. Sal is the first one to tell you that the climate in Orange is perfect for growing cold climate fruits. The winters are crisp and the summers are hot.
So all you need to do is know what’s in season and tuck in!!
