We sat down with our passionate producer, Jeff from Anderson's, to chat about his take on food, family and creating a better world. Here’s what he had to say.
Tell us your story- what brought you to Newcastle?
We kind of ended up in Newcastle by accident, but it's no surprise that we love it and have settled here - we used to live in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in the UK and the two have a lot in common, particularly the culture and feel of the place. This Newcastle is quite a bit sunnier though!
Tell us about your amazing products, and what makes them so special.
Our products are all plant based staples that you can enjoy for breakfast, lunch and dinner! We started with burgers and sausages and are expanding from there.
I guess what makes our range so special is that I create and cook products that first and foremost make our family happy. I work hard to pack in lots of flavour, plus everything is handmade from real ingredients. We freeze our products so customers can simply reheat and serve - from my kitchen to yours.
What inspires you day-to-day?
I'm inspired by being part of the solution. I'm excited by real world mechanisms to make the future better. I think a positive future is a real possibility as long as we focus on what we do, what we consume and what we waste.
Do you have a food philosophy?
We always sit down for a family dinner and I prepare something worth taking the time over. We have some great conversations around the dinner table. It's a special bonding time together.
What do you love about YFC?
I love that YFC closes the gap between the producer and the consumer. I feel like my food is being made by my mates down the road! YFC enables you to connect with producers and buy local and yet it's a simple process which fits in with our day-to-day routine.
What’s your personal go-to in the kitchen atm?
I'm loving theEast Coast Lime Juice from YFC. We have actually built a new product around it - check out our zestyLime (Tofu) Slice!
