Christmas Tree Care 101

Your beautiful cut radiata pine does need a little TLC to keep it feelin’ fresh and looking festive. Follow these tips for a happy tree:

Refresh:  

Once home, refresh your tree by making a straight cut across the base, taking 2cm off the stump before you place it into a stand with water. This simple step will better enable your tree to absorb sufficient water to maintain its freshness.

Water:

Treat your cut tree like you would a cut flower in a vase; the base should remain submerged in water - top it up every day or so, as needed.

Keep Cool:

Position your tree away from brightly sunlit windows, TV’s and other heat sources as they will dry out your tree prematurely.

Saying Goodbye:

There are two easy options to bid your tree goodbye, and both involve your local council. Most local councils will collect Christmas trees for free and either mulch or compost them. Sometimes it's a special Christmas tree collection, or else you can book it as an extra green waste collection. Otherwise - and a bit more labour intensive - is to chop your tree up and pop in your green bin, ready for the next regular collection.
